Should you use GU10 or GU5.3 LED Bulb in Singapore?
Introduction
GU Light Bulbs are otherwise known as Bi-Pin Lamp Base. It is created by Reginald Fessenden when Thomas Edison and his company refuse to allow the use of Edison-Screw Base Bulbs to be used.
Difference between GU10 and GU5.3
- GU5.3 has a transister installed while GU10 doen’t
- GU5.3 has a Voltage of 12/24V, While GU10 has a Voltage of 120/230V
- They have a different bottom, GU10 uses 2 Studs while GU5.3 uses 2 pin.

So, GU10 or GU5.3 in Singapore?
- Since GU5.3 Bulb has a transister installed, when the light that the bulb produce have problems, you might have a hard time to figure out whether is the Transister or the Bulb is spoiled.
- Since GU5.3 Bulb is using a Voltage of 12/24, it will be very hard if you want to dim the lights compared to GU10 that uses a voltage of 120/240.
Overall, if possible I would suggest people to get GU10 LED Light Bulb instead of GU5.3, as when your Light is not working, you can be sure of what is the cause of the problems and at the same time be able to dim your lights easier.
