I will be summing up a few precautions for cleaning lightings. So, it will be useful for the upcoming New Year!
Lighting replacement and cleaning guide
Living room lighting cleaning
Living room normally act as a household’s “Face”, which lightings normally will be hanging at high place, removing it is troublesome, so please take note of the following points:
- For the living room’s lightings, just use damp clothes to gently wipe and clean up the dust.
- if there is smudge that is hard to remove, use a bit of disinfectant and wipe it.
- For non-main lights, Spotlight, recessed Ceiling light or other embedded lighting, just use a soft cloth to remove the dust.
Living room’s lighting is easy to get dust due to daily usage, I need to clean regularly to prevent dust from covering up the lights and thus affect the brightness.
Bathroom lamp cleaning
Bathroom’s lighting is one of the most frequently used place, lightings in the bathroom should compromise the following rules:
- After turning of the electricity, use slightly damp cloth with small amount of detergent to wipe
- Not recommended to clean frequently, instead clean it every month or quarterly as the main cleaning routine
- After cleaning, choose a clean and soft cloth to clean the surface
At the same time, lighting in the toilet is very easy to have water going in and leftovers from water vapour. It will be a good decision to have moisture shield protection for all lightings located in the toilet to prevent corrosion that might cause electric shock.
Kitchen lighting cleaning
Lighting in the kitchen is always greasy due to long hours of contact with oil smoke. Which will non-surprisingly lead to stubborn grease which makes it harder to clean.
So, when cleaning kitchen lightings, please take note of the following:
- Shut down the electricity, remove the lighting in the kitchen. Now, use detergent on the lightings surface to remove existing stubborn grease
- Use a slightly damped cloth to clean once, do take note of not touching the metal contacts while cleaning it.
- Lastly, use a dry soft cloth to dry the lightings and ensure that the lightings can be powered up after cleaning.
- Cleaning of kitchen lightings need to be frequent as it will be harder to clean when grease becomes stubborn grease.
Please take note that it is important to choose lightings that can prevent oil fumes, as long hours of cooking can lead to grease forming on the surface of the lightings, affecting the lighting’s brightness and doesn’t look good.
How to choose a new upgrade for lighting?
During the new year, many would plan to upgrade their original furniture for the upcoming chinese new year.
While lighting is a must have, it naturally should rely on the current trend, ones spending ability and needs to change. Therefore, how should one choose lightings?
Actually it is very simple, for a different kind of environment, choose different lightings with different abilities.
Living Room
Living room is a place to serve visitors. In the middle of the living room, choose lightings that can adjust its brightness and colour temperature’s main light, to fulfill different events such as friends gathering, watching movies, chatting etc…
When the basics of illumination is fulfilled, adding ceiling light belt, bracket to raise the high top vision; adding central lights such as wall lamp, floor lamp and table lamp to increase the sense of light level and the effect of filling light to achieve partial area.

The long dining table can choose a style consisting of small chandeliers, while a single chandelier is suitable for a dining table with a square shape.
Bedroom
The bedroom, as a rest area for the body and mind, is mainly to create a relaxing bedroom environment. The lighting should not be too dazzling. It needs to be more biased towards warm colours and brightness.
